Santana I (Legacy Edition) remastered with a previously unreleased bonus CD - in stores on October 19, 2004
10/6/2004

Now Columbia Records and Legacy Recordings are proud to present the ultimate fan experience--Santana (Legacy Edition). Santana (Legacy Edition) is a 2CD deluxe package that documents this phenomenal album and all the material recorded during their first year as a band. The first disc is newly remastered version from the original tapes and features 3 bonus outtakes from that session. The second disc is the much talked about and highly sought after David Rubinson produced version of the first album which was recorded four months earlier. This session was abandoned after the band decided to add new members and also wanted to record more song driven material unlike the jam session that Rubinson had help record. These two different versions of one classic album, in addition to the entire 1969 Woodstock Festival performance, shows the immense vitality and diversity of each band member and their powerful development over the course of just 9 months.
Santana (Legacy Edition) also includes vintage photos from the period as well as a new and highly insightful essay from Hal Miller who interviewed both Carlos and Gregg Rolie as they discuss their wonderful memories of that year and both recording sessions. Santana (Legacy Edition) is an enchanting journey through the early development of one of rocks most prolific, revolutionary and diverse bands.
